Well last night was the tree lighting ceremony at mom and dad's. It was the big pine tree by our house, looked nice good christmas start. I remember how we planted that tree when we first moved in and now its 15 - 20 feet high...it was so much easier to decorate when it was smaller!

Finally the first or maybe its too soon to be the first already?! All I know is that Liam is ready for the snow! If he has to come out in the morning one more time and find that its just frost on the cars and not a healthy coat of snow, someone's going to be in BIG trouble! Well I think that we are a little behind in all this...but we had a good Thanksgiving, did some Black Friday-yes they still had it, oh yes did they ever! Put up the tree, Jillian was excited about all the lights and wanted to take them all off and play with them. Liam couldn't make up his mind if he wanted Happy Halloween or Christmas. If was about every two minutes that he asked if it was Christmas, once he found out that he couldn't open presents until then!

This is our first family photo. Matt's sister katie took it for us, which was a chore. Liam didn't want to sit still and would come and pose for 5 seconds, then get up and want to see the photo she took. We only took like 12 pics....but we got it to work. Then we got some pictures of Jillian. Pretty hard not to get a good picture of her though. The last one is of Liam and his first sledding trip. He loved it and didn't want to come back in.

Just to publish something...I just got back from an almost week long conference in Kansas City. For work.

Erica won a pool that is 12 feet by 30 inches-its at Mom and Dad's, since hopefully we are going to have a house sometime soon.

So on Jan 23rd our baby boy had his first birthday! Of course he's not so little - he's now at 32 inches and just over 26 pounds, so he's getting pretty big. he has been taking a step or two but mostly handing on to things and walking, but he just decided that on his birthday that was enough. And he started walking...everywhere...and sometimes running, but that only works when he has something soft to stop himself.

Here is Matt's second..my first attempt at a cake. It was for my mom's birthday and it was a big hit. I have a feeling i'm we are going to be creating alot more. Its the perfect medium...art and food :)

So Matt and I being the cool nerds that we are joined the community theater. Now I have been in plays before and have no real issues with being in front of people was eager to join. Matt however had never acted before a day in his life and said he would do it also just to experience something new. Well audition day came and went and I got the part of Lois, the lawyer. I get 57 lines in the whole play. Matt...remember he has no actual acting background gets the lead! He is Mike the detective and has 124 lines....the most out of EVERYONE! When he told me what part he had my first question was instantly "Who did you do to get that part" Of course he didn't do anything...that's just showbiz! But i am very proud of him and we will surly post pics!

So they had a men's cake baking/ decorating contest at the riverside park days in Flandreau this weekend. Erica talked me into making a cake, we were going to try this recipe for fondant, which worked out really well...but using baking soda instead of corn starch to roll it out makes it not taste so well. But I got it right on the second try and got it right big...I got Best of Show and then my cake got actioned off with the proceedes going to the Crystal Theatre...well total they made like $900 with like 30 cakes total but my cake alone sold for $105!

My dad and his granddaughter/ our niece Rae went fishing in the Big Sioux last night. We get a call a little while later saying get the camera ready, we caught something! We got some cute pictures when we were putting them on a string, even a little movie clip of Rae singing a little song about fish, with most of the lyrics being the word fish, along with some interesting dancing, wether she was thanking the fishing spirit for the fish or just really excited we don't know.

My grandma Rangel sent Liam a little Hawaiian outfit when she went out there with my aunt and uncle. My mom and dad came down last night and gave it to us so we made this photo really fast. OK so he is cute....we get it. You hear that saying that two cute parents make an ugly baby and two ugly parents make a cute baby. No more explanation needed.

Liam is doing great. We went to see Dr. Turner because Liam has a little cold and found out he weighs 20 lbs 4 oz. He just turned 5 months old on Saturday so he is still doing really well. Has a little cough but they say let him "cough it out" So we will do that.

P.S. The person holding him is Matt not me! Although I have been known to not shave my legs for a while I pride myself on a non-hairy chest... Thank you very much!

Liam is officially at the top of his class. At 4 months he is in the 103rd percentile for length at 28 inches long, 97th percentile for weight at 18.3 lbs, and 16 inches for his head size...well he is only in the 51st percentile for that one...but I have a feeling this will catch up to the rest of him soon enough. Our doctor said that the NBA will soon be calling. If that's the case I better teach him who to rap as well. After becoming the MVP for the Lakers he will have to make a rap album like all the other basketball players. Then after selling a few albums he'll make the occasional movie appearance. Well then again if he's our anything like us it will be a self filmed Star Wars film!

Just a little update about us. Matt loves his job, I got a new job at the casino in the IT department so I will be closer to home, and we are hoping to soon buy a house. I'm just glad I don't have to drive 2 hours a day anymore!

Liam is now 13.6 pounds, 23 1/4 inches long and very healthy.

Oh and by the way, when we got to the doctors office, we checked him to see if he needed changing right before we got in and he was fine. When we got him on the table and the nurse said he needed to be down to his DRY diaper. Well by that time its wasn't dry-it was full of poop. And not just a little bit, it was coming out the side and everything. But he must have just done it because he either didn't have room to pee or just didn't get that far yet. Well he let it fly in the roomf-but I've gotten pretty good at stopping the straight up shot. But he still got some one the table.

I turned 31 yesterday, big whup. Its not like its a milestone or anything.

Although it was pretty much the best one yet.. I have a loving wife that made me enchilladas, even after I forgot to take out the chicken and beef for them, I have a son that is growing like a weed, and I got to have my sister, brother, dad and mother-in-law over for a little party. It was just about the best one yet!

So I'm a total looser, but I had to see what he would look like with dark hair. There is still a chance that he may have the same hair color as me.

Liam is growing everyday and is already in size 3-6 months. I now know why I was unable to breast feed Liam...nature knew it would have been the end of me. He would have sucked me dry! He eats about 6 oz each feeding and the thing is he isn't a chubby baby, he's long and thick. Even though he wasn't as big as his uncle Andy when he was born, Liam is trying to catch up and beat his record.

His cousin, Alexis, was 7lbs 6 oz. so about 6.5 oz less than Liam when he was born. We haven't had him weighed since he was at 8 lbs 5 oz and that was at least last week. Not on exact times anymore because if its not a feeding time then I don't really have a very good concept of what day or time it is.

Let sleeping babies lay

Liam sleeping a hard night off. I think this was the night that he woke up at 130 am and ate 3 oz, and then kept fussing, so tried some more food and then after and other 2 oz at about 330 am went to sleep.

But he is really doing good about sleeping most of the night...wakes up, diaper change, eats and then falls back to sleep...has even made it about 5 hours inbetween.

So I was changing Liam the other day, had him clean and ready to go...and then I felt somthing warm on my side. Didn't even have to look to see that my son was peeing on me, grabbed the first thing that I could find and blocked it. He seemed to feel better so I guess I can forgive him.

Oh but wait was changing him later and was in the middle of wipeing him down and felt a stream hitting my wrist. But he's just so little and cute so I can forgive him.

And I almost forgot, this morning at about 6, when he woke up and was hungry again, I was changing him again and this time it was just a quick shot, that went up and shot the monkey at the head of the changing table.

So now while we might still be calling him our little lima bean he might also be our little squirt.

Ok so yes it has been a while..but its not like we aren't doing anything...really we are busy. For those of you that don't know I am a pizza boy again...but its for a good cause...baby money. So back to that, we bought our first package of diapers last week! A friend of ours told us to buy some now so we weren't swamped buying them later. Although we got the 'jumbo' newborn size, for like 8 lbs. to 14 lbs. and then we were thinking...just how long is our baby going to be in that area? Just going from history I was like 11lbs., my brother was 13 or so but most of us were in that range, more or less.

So our baby is going to come out, eat once and be over the weight limit for those diapers. Which makes me think...what happens when they go over the weight limit on a diaper? is there a fine involved, do you have to weigh them before to make sure they are regulation?

By the way we are having a giant...in case you didn't know...or so Erica seems to think so, and from the size of the kicks, it might just be so...

Yet another alien like photo...i don't know what to say except the baby has my face :) This is a picture of it's head. I told my grandma that i was going to call the baby Poindexter if it didnt show itself...so we may not know what the sex is, but we know the name! And when he/she asks me why i gave it such a name I will proudly say, "because...you were a turd to me...and this is the best way i could think of to get back at you!"

Perhaps i won't be that mean...but I do know this kid is a combo of both Matt and I. Shy and stuborn....umm for those of you that know us you will know which characteristic is based off of Matt and which one is me. If you don't know us...i'm the shy one!

Well so far everything is healthy and that's all that matters. We are starting to get baby stuff or ideas of things we want and now really narrowing down names. If we have a boy we are pretty much set....if this baby is a girl she's gonna have to pray that i'm not that drugged when it comes to naming her because we have no idea!

Well We went to the doctor again yesterday, everything is fine with 'the baby'. Its in the 51 percentile of length and weight, which is good-and according to my mom, really good since its not like my brother Andy who was in the 99 % range or something like that. Although it's measuring 29.5 weeks when its supposed to be at 28.5. But here's how we figured out that it was my baby...we were getting an ultrasound, poking around and measuring stuff, and maybe trying to get a little peek at what the sex might actually be, when it rolled over and turned its back to us! My sisters Katie and Betsy at the district football game. Katie, on the right, wrapped in the blanket that she gave to Betsy for her sweet 16th birthday. Notice that Katie still has the blanket around herself. Betsy ever got her name announced at the game that it was her 16th!

The artist, while it said in the release that he was from Yolo, Colo (there isn't a Yolocolo either, haha) but there is a Yolo, California. He does wood block prints with painted with watercolor mediums. The prints are kind of silly, but really interesting, espically when you look at them as prints. Kind of reminds me of my wife and I's printmaking teacher at SDSU, only his prints were really bizzar forms. I was up in Webster, SD this weekend-celebrating my father-in-laws birthday, when Erica, Chris-our nephew-sitting to my right, and I went to the pumpkin days celebration. We entered the contest, and I ended up winning.

But it might have been because I could hide the pie in my beard-they were all about the same color.

Time off

For once since we've been back we have done nothing this weekend...that is unless you call going to Charo on Friday night, church and having my parent's over for pizza and watching Dr. Who on saturday...nothing. But then sunday, we really did nothing, I even took a nap while watching Godzilla. Erica is still not feeling any better, and it's probably not helping that the baby (still just "a baby", no gender yet) is finding new things to kick. and times to do it. Although I'm pretty sure that I did feel it give a good kick, and I didn't even have to poke it!

Bashfull Baby

So we went to the doctor on tuesday. First we thought that they weren't going to do an ultrasound but then we did. But the baby must have known that we wanted to find out what sex it was because not only was it facing the wrong direstion-s, it had its legs crossed, and the cord bunched up in its lap. There was a brief moment that the doctor thought that she saw the area, and that there wan't anything that was suggesting a male but it was too fast to tell.

That and I got to see the baby kick, no wait jump Erica's bladder. Erica even said 'oh that was a big one!' or something to that effect.

Now we have to wait 8 weeks to get another shot at what it is...damn it.

So I found this cartoon, and I thought that it was pretty funny. You know the whole I'd chose a different type but I'm dead. But then I saw that there was another meaning there-coming back from the dead just for coffee...interesting concept. A new dawn of the dead movie-all because everyone in the world just happened to open a can of Folgers at the same time.

So when I first moved to Flandreau, one of the first jobs that I got was newspaper delivery. Did the Booster(which is now THE compeditor for the Enterprise-although its not that much of a competition. They only do ads, no news.) and then the Argus Leader...

Now 12, almost 13 years later I'm doing it again. Delivering papers...only on wednesdays though...and this time I get to make the paper.

Boxes Boxes Everywhere...

There are big boxes, little boxes, tiny boxes, and bags. They fill the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and basement. They are everywhere. We try to stack them, empty them, fill them, and throw them. We are not winning the fight. We are slaves to these boxes. I hope to break free someday.

I hate the waiting game...sdsu is taking forever. Oh well. I have a accepted a job at Sioux Valley Hospital however. I'm actually excited about this one. I know it's going be an awesome place to work because they have named their rooms after Star Wars characters. I hopefully will start Friday if they want me to. I really don't have much to do right now so why not start. Matt's job is great. He is home early every day. They have 10:30 coffee breaks which i think is funny. But he's happy...and it is a great thing to see him happy. We get to move into our little house on Friday as well. I'm going to see if we can get in early and do some cleaning. I hear from the fam here that they previous tenant isn't that tidy. Well that's all from me. Everyone is happy and Matt and I are on our way to actually having a normal life!
